Special WAPA Salon:  What is Applied Anthropology

Note location: U Maryland College Park Campus, Woods Hall, 7 pm. Pre-salon reception at 6:30

This special WAPA salon will be an open forum to discuss the vagaries and current situation of applied anthropology. Two UMD graduate students, Kristin Sullivan and David Colon-Cabrera, will provide discussion topics, and moderator Dr. Erve Chambers will keep the discussion focused. Join us for an interesting look at where we are, and maybe even where we are going.

The discussion will take place in the conference room (#1111) in Woods Hall. Light refreshments will be set up for an informal reception nearby in the lounge. The conference room is located on the first floor, to the left after entering the building (this is the floor you enter after going up a the large stairs at the front of the building). Snacks will be provided in the Graduate/Faculty Lounge, which is on the same floor to the right of the entrance.

After the discussion, participants will adjourn to a nearby establishment to continue the discussions or start new ones.

Driving/Parking Parking lot C2 on Regents Drive is the closest to Woods Hall. This map shows various parking lots on campus. Any of the GREEN lots are free to park after 4PM. On this map, Woods Hall is the building that sits over the blue parking lot, W1. You will enter from the side of the grassy mall.

If coming from DC on Route 1 enter campus on the left just after passing Potbelly's sandwich shop, across from California Tortilla. This is Regents drive. Follow up the hill, pass the chapel on your left. As you begin to descend the hill look for parking lot C2 on your right. Woods Hall will be on the grassy mall to your left.

For more information on parking, see the campus visitor guide.

Via Metro Take the Green line to the College Park Metro Station (direction: Greenbelt). Once you descend the escalators, exit the station to the left. You will see two bus shelters on the inner circle of the lot. This is where Shuttle UM picks up passengers. You will take the #104 bus to the campus (free). The bus runs every 10 minutes. After departure, exit at the first stop on campus. This will be near the traffic circle and large "M". From here, you are the closest you can get to Woods Hall. It is about a 2 minute walk. (Use this interactive map to find the building).
